Understanding Bawaseer (Piles): Why "Pressure" is the Root of the Problem

In India, Bawaseer is a household name that most people are too shy to discuss.

In India, Bawaseer (Piles) is a household name that most people are too shy to discuss. But if you look at the Ayurvedic texts like the Ashtanga Hridaya, you'll find it described in great detail as Arsha. Understanding Bawaseer isn't just about the physical discomfort; it's about understanding how your lifestyle has put undue pressure on your system.

    What exactly is Bawaseer?

Scientifically, piles are inflamed and swollen veins in your rectum and anus. In Ayurveda, Arsha is compared to a "forest fire" in the lower canal. It occurs when the Mamsadhara Kala (the lining of the anal canal) becomes irritated and begins to bulge.

    The Ayurvedic "Pressure" Theory

The primary cause of Bawaseer in Ayurveda is chronic Vistabdha-Ajirna (indigestion leading to hardness). When you are chronically constipated, you apply "Pravahana"—the act of straining during bowel movements.

    • This straining creates a "back-pressure" in the veins.
    • Because the Apana Vayu (the downward energy) is blocked or "Vimarga-ga" (moving in the wrong direction), the blood vessels in the rectum bear the brunt of the force.
    • Over time, these vessels lose their elasticity and "prolapse" or swell, leading to what we know as piles.

The Role of Mandagni (Slow Digestion)

You cannot have Bawaseer without first having a weak Agni. When your digestive fire is low, your stool becomes either too hard (Vata-type Arsha) or too acidic/burning (Pitta-type Arsha). This constant irritation of the sensitive anal lining is what eventually leads to the formation of "piles masses."

    The Fakkigiri Perspective

At Fakkigiri, we believe that treating the "mass" without treating the "movement" is a temporary fix. You must address the constipation (Kabz) that forces the straining in the first place. Our bawaseer ki ayurvedic dawa is designed to work from the inside out — addressing the root cause (kabz + straining) while supporting vascular healing. Our goal is to help you achieve a "Sukh-Purvak" (effortless) evacuation, so the pressure on your veins is naturally lifted.
